“A thousand world essays”

Our professor assigned us in these last couple of classes that all the students were divided into three groups with three different chapters, and they were grouped virtually to complete the work. Each group created and presented slides with their given topics; Their work focused on providing us with their information about their parts of the chapter in a more summarized and concise way that gave us their opinions on the subject as well as supporting evidence and videos.

Starting with group one, their chapter was the third which is entitled "Culture and Communication". Group one did an impeccable job when presenting and explaining their chapter, they touched on topics such as race and the different types that exist such as white, black, native Americans, Indians, etc. They presented us with key points such as religion in dominant countries and how it differs from other countries, they also gave us an excellent example of discrimination since in countries like the United States which is a religiously Christian country certain people tend to insult and discriminate against emigrants from other countries with other religions such as Muslims since Americans associate their religious beliefs with the terrorist attack of 9/11. Another aspect that caught my attention was the issue of sexual orientation since many people are mistreated when interacting with people who are against that since they have an image of how men and women are supposed to act. They also explained the different types of activities that can be carried out to stop the abuse against homosexuals such as legalizing marriage of the opposite sex as well as having a month of homosexuality which currently exists one as it is in June. This chapter was full of interesting topics and educational too of various cultures and their ways of seeing the world as well as their ways of acting in the day to day and how despite being there are always ways to get along and learn from the cultures of others.

The chapter of group two was "Communicating in groups" this group also touched on important topics such as presenting the different types of groups, the development of them and ways to avoid the conflict between them as well. They started by talking about the various groups that people can be part of such as social, support, families, friends, and virtual groups. I think this group did a really fascinating job of summarizing and explaining their information in detail and support them with videos and images which put us in context to real-life situations where groups play an important paper. Their presentations gave us tips on how we can interact with group members as well as always listen to others and take notes on important things they say. They explained the differences between the Heterogeneous group, which is made up of people with knowledge and values, and the Homogeneous group, which is made up of people who share similar knowledge, perspectives, and values, and also defined the goal of a group teamwork which is a desire of all members of that group to be motivated to achieve certain achievements. In general, all the information acquired from this chapter is extremely interesting to me and it is something tha1`t will help me every time I have to do teamwork and for future meetings, both with family and friends.

Finally, the last but not least was group number three which is part, in this chapter we talk about "Group Leadership and Problem solving". Personally, I think that all the members of my team did an exemplary job when creating their slides and explaining their information, all the slides had something in common which was that all the members agreed to make the slides with the theme of the series "The Office" which once I finished it seemed to me that the design was spectacular. We all touched on important topics, we talked and explained about leaderships and task roles, I explained about maintenance roles and the five most important relationship skills. My team touched on very interesting topics, for example the responsibilities of sharing a leadership and the steps that must be taken so that it is organized and accurate when explaining it to the class. In general, I think that like the other groups, we all did a good job presenting our information and showing images and videos related to the given topics, and I think that in order to see it as our first presentation work, we did very well.

To conclude this assignment in groups it seemed to me a good experience since in this way we could interact and communicate in a more frequent way and lose the fear of speaking in public as well, also as for everyday situations, for schoolwork and for the future too. I loved the presentations of the other groups apart from mine since I acquired new knowledge which I did not know before. I plan to improve my way of presenting because when the time comes, I start to get nervous, and I start to stutter while I read my information so that it does not happen so frequently in future projects, and I really liked my group since we were always communicating and helping each other to another at all times and that is why it was a very good experience.
