Each
presentation given showed great teamwork and did an amazing job showing and
explaining their chapter. They all followed up their citations with their opinions
and videos to back their information up. Not only did they give information from
the book, but they also related it to the real world.
To
begin with Group one, they had chapter three. Chapter three was about
Intercultural Communication. Group one did a great job in showing the roles of
culture in communication. For examples and more information, they used more
than one culture. The group also used videos and picture to help the audience
better understand the concepts. When you think of cultural communication, you
think of only putting information on your state. Not only did they share
information on the United states, but of the world as well. Each group member did
a fantastic job in explaining their designated area. The group elaborated on
very important topics such as gender, sex, and religion. This a very important
topic and it is necessary to shine light on to the people who are going to be
our future because we are the ones who have the ability to change the world for
the better. Usually, it is not spoken often because it causes arguments and can
be taboo, but the group made sure to express why they believe it is necessary
to speak on. To this day people are still suffering for the color of their
skin, who they want to love, and who or what they decide to believe in. Everyone
to deserves to be treated equal. The color of your skin and who you love should
not be the cause of so much hate. Group one did a great job on their presentation.
It gave very important information with videos to support their information.
They also did so in a way that was organized.
To
continue, Group two presented chapter nine. Chapter nine was about communicating
in groups. Group two did a great job explain the different groups like what healthy
groups look like and need, the development of groups, and how to manage group conflict.
Getting to know your team is a big part in having a healthy and stable group.
Making sure that all the group members are up to date and no one is falling
behind is a great example of leadership. They explained groups that people can
be apart of, for example, social, support, service, work, virtual, music, and
family and friend groups. It shined light on groups that you can join, like
social groups, and groups that you are already part of, like family. The group
did a great job in splitting the presentation, so it is not too much workload
on just one person. Each group member expressed their different types of groups
with pictures and videos to help support their information. Not only did they
describe the different types of groups, but they also described the development
in forming the groups such as, performing, planning, and transforming their
ideas into real information. The stages play an important role in how groups
work together to fulfill their goals effectively. Their group shines light on
the ups and down of being in a group. There are always going to be disagreements,
but they showed that active communication helps resolve these disagreements.
They chose to end with conflicts in groups. There are many reasons there can be
conflicts and disagreements in groups, it is up to the group members the
communicate and overcome these conflicts together. This presentation opened my
eyes to groups and did a very good job on passing their information to me.
Lastly,
Group three which was the group that I am apart of, presented chapter 10 which
was about leadership and problem solving. Our group presentation was very
creative in the sense that we all worked together to include a theme for the
background which we chose to be the shoe “The Office”. I believe we worked
collectively as a group to show and express all the information while keeping
it fun and entertaining. Our videos were not too long and were straight to the
point. They related to the topic but showed a different point of view and
served as another example. The pictures served as more of an elaboration to the
information. The slides were detailed with pictures and videos. We divided the
workload and kept in communication to do our very best during the presentation.
For this being our first presentation together, I believe we executed it
gracefully and as perfect as we could make it. I am very grateful to be in group
three and to have the group members that I have. There were some members who
stood behind or never spoke up as much as we encouraged them to. Working on
this chapter with my group, I learned to make sure everyone gets a turn in the
spotlight and their needs and wants are being heard. Overall, I believe we did
a great job executing the information along with our opinions and ideas. Our
videos, pictures, graphs, and theme were all kept short and straight to the
point, and in a lighthearted way.
To
conclude, to be in the circumstances that we are, and meeting for the very
first time, I strongly believe that all the groups did an excellent job together
expressing their topics. The presentations were done smoothly for it being our
first try. They were straight to the point and organized. Each group member had
a job and most of them did all their work and went beyond. With this being out
first presentation, we learned from our mistakes and in the future, we will
execute our presentation better in the future.
